Hello,

My name is Scott and I have been trying to find out what shingles are on my current home. You see, we are building a new home and want to use the same style of shingles on the new home. They are basically 3-tab asphalt shingles, but they have the look of architectural shingles, with more variation of colors than say a Malarkey Alaskan shingle, which the builder is planning on using. Below, I've included a link to what the shingles look like. I left the photo in its original 1600x1200 resolution to show as much detail as possible. Please note the color variation. I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could point me to the right item...

Different types and styles of shingles are sold in different areas and chances are your type of shingle was used on more than just your house. I would contact a local roofer and have him stop by saying you are having a house built and you would like to use the same shingle. Whether you use him or not is up to you. Roofers will know what types and styles were used and were available in their own area. They might not even be available anymore though I doubt that.

Hopefully Grumpy stops by - he'll probably know exactly what they are.

I studied the shingle and I can't put my finger on it, but check with Tamco because they make a popular 3-tab shingle like this one.

Why not use a typical architectural shingle? They are usually a little bit heavier and stronger than 3-tabs.
