Do I need footings???

I am building a deck that will span about 20 feet across the front of my house and will have a roof above it. Should I just build Deck footings about 4 ' apart or poor a complete footing?

I would say if you used 16x16 concrete pads you would be fine... and with a header running the full length you should be able to get away with going 6-8' on center.
