Hello all,
Just looking for opinions...

In the exterior walls, cellulose blown in wet <vs> fiberglass batts?

In the ceiling, cellulose <vs> fiberglass?

If we put the HVAC equipment in the attic, would there be any benefit to insulating under the roof (to somewhat control the temperature extremes in the attic)?

Or maybe at least have a radiant barrier wrapped around the unit. Or you could build a "conditioned room" surrounding the unit in the attic. A room being something obviously simple but sealed and insulated with plenty of access.

Is the attic vented? If so then maybe put in an electric fan of some variety. I'm probably going to install a solar gable fan down the road. Then you could skip the conditioned room and stick with the radiant barrier.

I hate, hate, hate cellulose.

Hate it.

If I was rich, I'd have all the walls done with spray-in foam (or built using ICFs). Since I'm not, fiberglass batts it is. Formaldehyde free stuff.

I went with blown fiberglass for the attic (and garage ceiling below the master suite).

I want to try that Ultra-Touch borax treated stuff. I found a place that has it at a fairly good price on the net. I like the idea of not itching.

Just moved into my new house. I used the blow in blankets. After seeing it done it seemed like a much better deal than batts. Supposed to get a little better R value than batts also. But if I were rich I would use the spray in foam.
