What are your opinions on using flexible lines for propane gas? Two that come to mind are TracPipe (www.tracpipe.com) and Gastite Titeflex CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing).

This doesn't answer your question Tom, but if it were me, I would make sure they size the piping for natural gas. That way if the city ever runs gas lines you will not have to repipe the home.

Make sure the TracPipe, Titeflex, CSST, or whatever is factory approved for natural and LP. That way when the natural gas comes down the road all you have to do is change the regulators, or regulator springs at the distribution manifold.

Nothing is forever.

The stuff is more popular these days. Costs more but the labor goes quick. The thing to remember is that you use a contractor that is factory certified on the product, knows how to size and install it. Your going to have some pretty long runs in that big ranch of yours.:)

Hi Richard,
Are you forgetting that my father-in-law owns the LP company? I could get get kicked out of the family by just mentioning natural gas in a post to this forum :-)

My brother-in-law suggested the flex. He (or an HVAC guy who contracts with them) will be doing the installation. I know nothing about it, so I thought I would ask the experts.

Thanks!

I used the Gastite product when installing my HVAC system (designed of course by the master Rabadger, works great! Thanks again Rich). The installation was a piece of cake with the flex pipe, I'd recommend it. But yep, the certified contractor is a must for this product. Looking at it and the associated fittings, you wouldn't think it works like it does. Unless you know exactly how to put the fittings together it could easily be done wrong. Of course, they'll leak test after they're done anyway.
