In one bathroom (new construction), the plumbers installed a tub/shower until against the outside wall. Problem is (at least I think it is) that they put *nothing* between the unit and the wall. Seems that there shuld be at least some insulation in there...and maybe even some moisture-proof wall board. Any suggestions?

Yes there should be insulation behind the shower. Should be installed before the tub goes in to insure proper installation (rather than just jamming it back there). No wallboard is required.

What kind of insulation should go behind a tile shower? I figured fiberglass batts are fine but is something better?

Fiberglass batts work best.
