This is a follow up to an older post in scheduling (http://www.construction-resource.com/forum/ftopic271.html). On my house plans it calls for a 20x8 block porch foundation. I am considering modifying this by using 4 concrete piers to support the main posts and then constructing the porch decking from wood rather than the slab the plans call for. Is there any draw backs I should know of before I do this? Also the porch roof above will be cantilevered from the main roof.
