Lattice Privacy Fence

What do you guys think of this? I know that lattice topped privacy fences are becoming popular but what about the idea of the whole privacy fence, minus the posts of course, being lattice.

In Florida after a hurricane usually the only fences standing are chain link fences. The wind blows right though.

I was thinking about using the full lattice idea just for seperation from mine and my neighbors yards.

Then I could grow virginia jasmine or some other variety of vine on the lattice and that would finish off the privacy.

Seems like lattice would cut down on the price of the fence too.

Well, I'm not big on the lattice look myself. However, if you like it, then give it a try. It won't be much of a privacy fence until your vines grow. And, will hurricane's blow the vines off?

Hurricanes might blow the vines off but all you ave to do is put them back on. Yeah it'll only be a kind of privacy fence for a little while. There are a few vine in Florida that will cover a fence pretty fast though. Now I just have to convince my wife.

Sounds like a do-able idea to me, just don't lean on it too hard . . . maybe some extra bracing at mid-hieght might help. :D

Yeah I had it all planned out...then the wife shot it down. I guess there has to be give and take in this whole marriage thing. I'm getting my way on flooring.

I played it off. Having the floors I want are far more important to me han a fence. ;)

I have seen and built many lattice fences. This is a pricy feature, but you may want to consider some nice decorative lattice. This would look nice there in Florida. Check out latticestix.com to see what I am talking about. I bet your wife is going to love it but your wallet will not!
