Ironically, I thought the same thing! At first, we both wanted a girl. Now that I think about sports (I play fb, basketball, baseball, softball, ...) having a boy will be pretty exciting.
And I can teach him how to flash windows. ;)

After my wife and I got married last December and how much it cost (thanks to her dad) we decided we don't want a daughter. But by deciding that i'm sure we've jinxed ourselves.
Having a boy is the way to go. Right now i'll stick with my rat terrier.
And a boy would want to help you build the tree house. The girl would just want it done. ;)

Congrats, Dave! I've got one each, and BOY, are GIRLS a lot of trouble! :D (Although I suspect that moms feel the opposite way ;) ) Either way, kids can be the best damn thing you ever built . . .
I am a proud Uncle today!!!
My little nephew was born at 4:15am in Orlando, FL.

The baby should be here Wednesday, actually. For medical reasons, we have a scheduled c-section on Wed at noon.

Things will go well. My sister had to have 2 c-sections. Hips were to narrow. Both went smooth and the kids are perfect.

The c-section process will amaze you. My wife and i had twin daughters back in march, from the time she recieved her epideril, i'm sure i spelled that wrong, to the actual birth was 15 minutes. It took more time to put everything back together than anything else. Just don't forget the camera like i did... congrats.

A scheduled C-section is a lot better than a last minute emergency one to save the child's life. Believe me, I've been through the latter.
Adam is 18 months old now and looks a year older than he is, he's growing so fast :)
As a proud father, I can't pass up a chance to show people photos either. Can't wait to see your pictures David.

Thanks all. I'm more nervous about becoming a father than my wife having surgery. My wife's more nervous about becoming a mom than surgery, too.
And please...take the opportunity to share your family photos! I have a really nice digital SLR, so if I don't get good pics it's my fault! I'll share them when I'm settled in.

My only kid is a 2 year old rat terrier. I'll see if I can dig up a picture.;)
Seriously though. I know my wife has a count down going on in her head. Even though she says she doesn't. She loves talking about meeting co-workers babies and what not. I guess it's only a matter of time.

I know the part about being nervous about being a father. And there isn't anything I or anyone else can say to make that nervousness go completely away.
But being a dad is the best thing I've ever accomplished in my life. I think you'll agree.

Dad is recovering well...Mom and baby are doing well, too. The c-section was a eye-opener. I watched the whole thing and the doctor even pointed out things as he pulled my wife's innerds out. Quite cool.
I have loaded my photos to snapfish - I hope you can view them without much hassle.

CONGRATS DAVE!
I though the hospital may have had to give you all the drugs.:)
Now the real fun starts! I always took the early 3:00 shift. Things were nice a quiet. Get yourself a coffee pot with a timer.
Nest thing you have to do is get the DVD "Bill Cosby, Himself".

Yikes! I was on the other side of the screen holding my wife's hand and reassuring her during the actual operation, so I didn't see a thing (I'm not sqeemish about medical proceedures, but it being my wife, with my child's life in jeopardy would have been too much).

No hassle at all, and he's a cutie! I'm amazed how many photos you managed to get with his eyes open so early!
Congratulations!

He's smiling in his sleep already at 4-5 days old.
I was holding my wife's hand behind the screen. They asked if I wanted to watch after giving me a chair. I thought the chair was a subtle hint to sit down and don't watch. Silly me. So, I stood up, continued to hold my hand, and tell my wife everything was going well. The expression on my face told her things looked okay to me. I even saw them cute a huge vessel (to placenta I believe, the size of a cigar) and it bled like crazy. I stood there and just kept a straight expression, though I was curious how much blood she would loose. All in all, she lost a quart (that's a lot of blood). She was pretty yellow for an adult and for the most part my wife still is. She's a trooper (has to be to me married to this severe ADD guy) and I'm very proud of her!

You will get accustomed to it. The next time you get a good nights sleep will be when to get to load the grandson full of sugar, wind him up, and send him home to mom and dad.

Yesterday, while my son and I were walking down the driveway at our cabin, he found a fist-sized (my fist, not his) rock that was nearly perfectly round. He picked it up and said "Ball!" I said, "That's a rock." He turned to me and looked straight in my eye and declared "No, it's a ball!"
Not bad for 18 1/2 months, forming sentances that is. Already disagreeing with daddy and he's got his mama's stubborness. Heavens help me.
Dave, where are the pics?

There is a link in post #29. As a dad of 3 he makes me envious of the pics he took, I don't think I have that many of all 3!

I LOVE Legos! I made a transformer out of legos once. Back in the day when there were only about 50 basic parts. "They don't make 'em like they used to."

I've got them all from 2 boys. Buying them to put under the tree was the best part. But shop early because they go fast. Join the club and get the catalogs sent to you.
The bad thing about lego's is stepping on them in the middle of the night.

I still love legos and lincoln logs. When ever my nephew has them out I end up playing with them in the middle of conversation. Luckily it's always with family and they've gotten used to me playing with the legos, the lincoln logs, the hotwheels, and from time time Thomas the Train. That is until my nephew takes them from me. :(.

Perhaps you should become a Lego architect and create spec homes!

Legos were alwayts my favorite toys too. I never understood why anyone wanted to play with them after you built something. i mean, all the fun was in planning and building the stuff in the first place :)
I am a compulsive builder too. My friends joke (except it's not really a joke) that if something needs assembly, that they should just leave the package and a toolbox near me and come back in an hour.
My son is going to have more Legos than he'll know what to do with.

I am late but want to congratulate you also. When my wife had her c-section, it turned into an emergency one. Cord was wrapped around my Sons' neck. I was kicked out of the room. That was 12 and half years ago. So have you had to take your. I have been to LegoLand and love it. Don't like the rest of those parks. I live about 2 hours away from LL, son loves the place.

Thanks! Our c-section was planned b/c the Dr wanted to remove a fibroid. Little did he know that she had a rare condition. Had we not had a scheduled c-section, we would have had an emergency one...and I could have lost both spouse and wife. We're very fortunate.
I dislike DisneyLand, World, .... parks. I'll wait til he's about 36" tall and take him on good rides at Cedar Point!
