Typically (gable) barge board is 1x6 or 5/4x6 with 1x2 trim. Recently I've noticed some barge that is stacked, maybe 1x6 or 8 with 1x4 or 6 then 1x2. This just adds a little to the look of the exterior.
Anyone do something similar to this. What sizes do you use? Any pics?

That is an outdated method in this area.
Everyone uses metal these days.

I assume the barge is the same as fascia??????
Never heard that before. Tiered fascia is very popular on the custom homes and cottages is this area. Aluminum is still the most common on residential homes but in custom recreational tiered wood is very common.

oh ya. We use cominations of 1 by 8, 6, 4 ,2 depending on the level of detail
requested. We also chamfer the edges as well. Sometimes we have to hang the shingles 6" over the subfasia to accomodate the tiered fascia.
