I have a question should I insulate the crawlspace? If so what r value should I use.
Thank you very much.

Local codes have an r-value associated with crawlspaces.
Example: Florida code specifies a total r-value of 11 for a crawlspace. It could be higher for your location especially if you are up north.
How much space do you have to work with in your crawlspace?

I have about 4 feet from the floor to the bottom of the floor joists. I can sit up in there comfortably.
I live in NY and just cleaned out the crawlspace and noticed there was no insulation. What R value should I use to make some my house stays nice and warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Thanks for your help.

I am not familiar with codes there either ........but you should be safe with R-20. We like to spray foam all crawlspaces with 3".

Having a company spray foam it would be your best bet. That way it would be sealed.
D@mn I wish I had 4ft of crawlspace.
I am sure Giddonah could help you out, he is from NY and probably knows the codes better we do.

Use styrofoam sheets on the crawl space walls. Make sure you insulate at the wall plates on the walls between joists also.
