I am building my own room addition and will soon be framing. Can someone tell me what a standard (code wise) nail pattern is? Is this basic stuff or do I need to look deep in to the proper nail patterns? Your advice is always good. Thanks
What nail spacing do you want? There are typically local codes for wall framing, nail spacing for sheathing, screw spacing for drywall, etc. You would probably be safe going 8" at the seams and 12" in the field for most codes. For 2x4 wall framing you should have 2 in each end of the studs, in high hurricane potential areas you should also toe nail... 2x6 go with 3 in each end.
