Smart Siding

We are having a house built in a new development. I noticed that one of the houses is having the Smartsiding put on. Does anyone know the pro's and con's of this stuff. We are in the Seattle area and get plenty of rain. I am not real excited about press board for siding. I cannot find any horror stories, only commercial info. Thank you for your time.

It's borate treated aspen wafer board with an MDO face that doesn't wrap the edges and it has to be painted every 3 to 5 years. They say it is stronger than hardboard but comparing it with hardboard is not a good sign. Developers and lawyers will love it.

Sounds like the new and improved Masonite. Developers and lawyers loved it too.

Get up close to it...you sure it doesn't say (not) SMART SIDING ???
