View Full Version : Public Works?
I was just curious if anybody here does Prevailing Wage jobs & what their views of those laws are...
The company I work for has many jobs that are prevailing wage. I don't really have any feelings on the subject one way or another... just another issue to deal with.

I've done a few. My workers love it but from my point of view there are alot of headaches involved with paper work on a prevailing wage job.
Another thing is we work long hours, but on the last job we did we were held back to work from 7am to 3:30 pm. We like to work 7-5 usually. This slowed us down incredibly with setup and take down of equipment.
I've nothing against prevailing wage jobs, but I do dislike unions.

I tried google, but the US DoL is unintelligible. Can someone tell me what Prevailing Wage means in english? If it's too complicated, just tell me to shove off. :)
Typically prevailing wages are used on federally funded or government (could be city, state, etc) funded projects. Essentially it's the average wage of workers who do similar jobs. It includes union and non-union jobs.
