I would like to get a compressor in the near future. I've been checking them out at the local stores but I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Idealy I want it to be able to run a framing nailer and anything below that.
A) Would a Porter-Cable 135PSI/6 Gal. compressor handle this? I see them for sale bundled with a finish nailer and a brad nailer for a pretty good price.
B) What are the SCFM requirements for a framing nailer? Will the thing be running constantly?
C) Am I missing anything else?
Thanks,
Jeff

I'm borrowing the exact same oil-less portable pancake PC that you just described.
It handles a framing nailer just fine.
Most framing nailers need 70-120 psi.
It won't run constantly.
My framing nailer says it needs 7.5 CFM to operate at 100 nails per minute. If you're operating at 50 nails per minute then you need 3.75 CFM. I personally don't like the pancake type compressors (I shouldn't say all pancake compressors - but most). Something like the PC C3151 is what I would suggest.

I have the slightly less powerful version of the C3151 (I don't think P-C sells it anymore), which is only a 125psi unit instead of 150psi, and it works fantastic. Should be able to support two framing guns at once.
Actually, I even use mine to run air-tools too, but Ive adapted a 10-gallon air tank to expand the capacity to pull that off. It works for short periods of use.
