About 6 months ago I purchased a tri-panel oak door with stained glass panels from Fine Doors by Feather River. The door less the stained glass was delivered two months later. The glass has never been delivered and now the company does not return calls. I have contacted the local authorities and they are interested in any other persons that have purchased a door from Fine Doors but not received the product. Any responses from builders, architects, or homeowners would be appriciated.
That sucks.. I'll try and direct some traffic to this post .. do they have a website?

Dennis,
I too have not received a door that I ordered back in August of 03'. My wife and I have called numerous times and they kept explaining that they were having glass problems with their supplier. Then they finally said that they were going thorugh bankruptcy. Our last conversation with the supposed new owner 'Valerie' told us that our door was complete nearly a month ago, bit they could not ship until the 21st. Now a week past that date we still have no door, and can not get in touch with anybody. Which authorities did you contact? We need to file a complaint also and maybe this can help the both of us.
These people sound like a lot of fun to deal with. Looks like they may have shutdown their website too.

I got the same story that they just settled a court proceeding and settled with the court administrator was to turn over all the business holdings on April 21st.
Last time I spoke with Valerie was on the 10th of April. She called me after I contacted the Sherriff's office and the officer that patrols that area went to her house to find out what was going on. He says she is really a nice person. She indicated that she was taking orders for more doors and is anxious to return to production.
She indicated the reason the phone doesn't work is because the power is off to the building
Have you paid for your door? Are you waiting for the entire door or just the glass?
I am like you holding on and hoping that the glass will be delivered for my door. They make a beautiful product it's just the time it takes to get it that's the problem!

According to Valerie per our last phone call, our door was complete but they could just not ship it. We have paid for the door in full.
They said that the door frame and jamb were completed back in November but they had problems getting the glass suppliers to send the products to put the glass in. I don't know what type of glass you had ordered, but we had done the craftsman leaded glass door with side lights.
We keep our fingers crossed, but are losing hope as she won't even return a call we leave on her cell phone which she gave us the number to........... I have a friend who works with attorneys who handle bankruptcy. She is going to have them investigate what is going on with the court proceedings. I'll keep you posted if we ever hear anything.

Dennis,
We contacted our credit card company that we used for the payment of the door and they are reversing the charges. I'm not sure how you paid, if you use a credit card you may want to file a claim with the company. Maybe this will get their attention when they have credit card companies going after them for money.

Good afternoon,
Got potentially good news! Currently the bankruptcy ( out of Sacramento Courts) is being handled by a new attorney that believes the business will be back in the hands of Vallerie the end of this week or sometime next week baring any further setbacks.
If you want to be contacted by fine doors and talk about your order send me your name and contact information and I will forward it on.

I was searching the internet about information on this company, I was planning on getting a door from them from Home Depot. Is this the same company? I've never heard of "Fine Doors". The Feather River I'm talking about is on the internet at www.featherriverdoors.com.
If this is the same company you're having problems with, PLEASE let me know so I don't get into the same trouble, paying without getting a product...
Hope you get your window and things work out.
thanks

The link you posted is not the company I have been dealing with. Their web site currently inactive is www.finedoors.com. Good luck!

Fine Doors is NOT in anyway affiliated with Feather River Door Company. Our products are only available exclusively in The Home Depot stores. Feather River Door Company is a registered tradename/trademark of Trinity Glass International, Inc.
We had filed a complaint against Fine Doors for unlawful use of our registered tradename, and under a settlement agreement, Fine Doors was to discontinue the use of the words Feather River by March 1, 2003.
If you would like more information on our products, please visit our website at www.featherriverdoors.com
Find out more on the advantageous of fiberglass doors, and why more and more people are purchasing fiberglass doors over steel and wood doors.

Thanks for setting that straight.

While i see Feather River Door trying to distance themselves from fine door, the problem is the same if you need warranty assistance from Feather River Door.
I purchased a door, the last in stock at the time, it had over tightened glass and cracks. I contacted Feather River Door who said the over tighened glass would be taken care of as a warranty item. That was early Febuary 2005, I installed the damaged door and asked Feather River Door to replace the glass as per their warranty. Then the story was that Masonite Door would handel the claim. After several calls to Masonite door, their customer rep 'Candy' said she would send the glass to the job address, then she said she would send the glass to my address, now the latest is she will send it to Home Depot on April 4th or 5th. Today is April 7th and still no glass.
It looks to me that the problem is at Feather River Door

If they have filed for bankruptcy you most likely will lose your money. When they divide up their assests your percentage will probably not be much if anything. Sad but true. Your credit card company will not be able to get money out of them either. It will all be tied up in the courts.
