One of my header spans when I get to the addition on my place will be 8". I have a double 2x8 header on the existing house right now. BUT...it's not load bearing. The matching header for the addition will be a load bearing header.
Florida Building Code says that a triple 2x8 header can only go 7'5" on an exterio load bearing wall. This is in essence an exterior load bearing wall being that it will be supporting the trus load.
SO...do any companies make a 2x8 LVL or glullam or something like that? My other header length is 6'9" so i'm fine.
