Hello all, newby here with a long question/problem. I am basically a foam insulation contractor but have decided to test the waters with batt and blow in insulation as well. The question I have is geared towards pricing. I recently completed a job for a home builder and was quite suprised with the profit I made on the homes. When I was bidding the houses (1250 sq ft and 1400 sq. ft) using foam he had told me he was paying around $4,000 a house for all fiberglass, I bid the job pretty cheaply for foam at around $4,700 but told him I could insulate with all fiberglass for around $3700 a house. He said he couldn't justify the extra $1000 and said to have us come insulate using fiberglass. With expenses and materials around $1,500, I thought I made a great profit. I used the same formula to bid some duplexes around 100 miles away and the builder said I was about twice as high as his current insulation contractor. Needless to say I was somewhat suprised. I'm guessing the first contrator has severly overpaid me at this point. Basically I am searching for a going rate for insulation installation, as I am not too familiar with what exactly to charge for fiberglass. What would be an expected amount to charge for insulating a 1700 sq ft unit in your areas? Any help is much appreciated.

Where are you from?

Working out of Nebraska, and working in Wyoming. Lots of travel time. I know rates vary from area to area, I'm just trying to gauge whether or not I'm making enough money to justify the work and travel.

Wish you were in my area (St. Louis). I can only find two foam insulators in the area. One wants $2.10 per sq. ft. for soy foam and the other won't return calls.

Anybody know how to find foam insulators?

Thanks,
Joe

We've been known to travel farther. If you are looking for something done email me at admin@advancedinsulationNE.com. I can see what we could do for you, otherwise I might be able to find someone closer to your area. Thanks.
