What Can I Use Quicken The Rotting Of A Big Pile Of Leaves In My Backyard? Should I Use Lime?

If you really want them composted, then you should have a proper area set up for it in your yard. There are a lot of good products you can get from your local hardware store to speed up the process, but the number one thing you need to supply is patience. Set up your area (near your garden or wherever you think you might use the compost material)... layer the leaves in there like the instructions on your accellerator tell you... insert a couple of perforated pipes into the middle of the pile (to let air in) and just keep adding to the pile as you get more stuff to compost. You have to flip it around every few weeks or so but that's more of a process of discovery than work.
Just make sure you move the pile to an area off your lawn, those compost accellerators do a real number on grass, too.
If you can set up your compost on a hard surface or on some type of platform that you can dig on, then your waste from the waste pile is minimized.
