We're getting ready to build, and just had our site plan done. The land engineer said that due to the depth of the sewer stub, we have a choice between tying in through the basement wall or going under the footer. Any advice? (BTW - The home is 1 story, and we're planning on a finished basement with at least a 1/2 bath.)
TIA

A lot depends on the depth of the sewer at the road. I would rather keep my sewer line low because how would you connect the drains when the pipe is above the floor. If I remember your sewer slope must be a quarter inch per foot. You can drop 90 dgrees down but horizontally it must be a quarter inch or is it one eighth.

The slope depends on the size of the pipe. I think with 2" it's 1/8" per foot and 4" it's 1/4" per foot. The idea being with a larger pipe you need more slope due to the same volume going through a larger pipe will be less depth and possibly leaving behind some "solids".
Personally I would go under the footer so I wouldn't need a sump pump.

Thanks for the replies. I was leaning towards under the footer, so the pipe would be at the lowest point possible. Now, which comes first - the footer or the drain? (Remember I'm a newbie!)

I would rough in the drain pipe and embed it in pea gravel and then pour over top of it.
