Getting ready to build a set of very expensive steps leading into rear yard at new clients house. Picture 8 1/2' of grade over 26- 28'.
After 16', the grade drops off very quickly; 2 1/2' - 3' . I'm going to form these steps out of concrete, add several sets of piers and incorporate rebar all over this thing. I plan on using a pump to do this because of the terrible access.
Also going to incorporate 2 side walls that will follow the steps to the bottom.
All of this is gonna to be covered with natural stone.

Anybody here ever build a large set of steps and is there anything that you had to be careful of or would do differently?

Do you have the plans for it? Is the base to be solid or hollow? Is there drainage problems also here? Better yet is it a wet area of NC?

Instead of pumping, you might want to check on whether a truck with a very long elevating folding conveyor is available. You can usually find them in larger cities.

You can use a drier mix with the conveyor than a pump, which might be helpful on a step job.
