Is worth it? How much of a difference does (can) it make?

My builder wants me to meet the guy that will be installing the system in my new house today.

If you have more than one unit it is a pain to clean. You have to pull all the filters then wipe down or put in dishwasher - most of them are big enough that you can only get one in a dishwasher at a time.
The cost difference (off the top of my head) is around $600 I think. The project I'm currently working on has 17 filter racks so you can imagine what a pain it would be to clean. We instead opted to go with a 65% fiber filter with the UV lights to kill small bugs and stuff.

We decided on using a dual system: A Lennox 2 ton, 12 SEER system for the bedroom area (approx 1000 sq ft) using their pleated filter, and for the remaining living area (approx 1800 sq ft finished space on the main floor and 2800 sq ft unfinished walk-out basement) we will use a Lennox 4-ton 12 SEER with their electronic filter.

Price seemed reasonable for a nice dual heat pump system and the guy uses no flex duct. :)

Actually the UV lights control mold, microbes (I guess really small bugs), etc and not larger particulates. If you are concerned with IAQ (Indoor Air Quality)...use the UV's in conjunction with Hepa filters...make sure your unit can accomodate the pressure drop for the Hepa's

I remember somthing about those cleaners creating an excess of ozone which apparently is not good in some cases.
