I'm having issues figuring out the best way to paint the walls near the floor where the base trim meets the walls. If I were to try and tape off the trim I'm only sticking tape on an 1/8" wide strip. Anyone have any good ideas?

The way i see it, these are my options:
1 - Tape it as best I can and hope it sticks long enough.
2 - Use a thin, metal, straight edge.
3 - Use one of those plastic edge brushing tools.
4 - Pull all the base trim off the walls.
5 - Pry the trim off the walls just enough to get tape in behind the trim to get a good stick.

Use a thin metal edge and paint as best you can then go over the edge with a small bead of caulk - will straighten the edge.

Is that practiced a lot? I've never seen caulk used on base trim. At least not at the top of the trim where it meets the wall.

When I was looking for a home in Denver - that's the only way paint grade trim was done and even some stain grade.

Believe it or not..I've used a trowel as a edger when I'm painting the baseboards. It give me a clean straight edge and the paint does not go on the trim at all! :)
