I'm building a new house and thinking of installing a flash water heater . I'm looking for info. regarding proper pipe sizing for gas lines for my(flashheater, 2-zone heating system, gas burners and dryer. and 2 fire places. I have a 1 1/2 pipe feeding my meter and regulator, but unsure what size is needed from that point and for branch runs...I figure I'll need specs. off my units, but then what? Looking for ideas of what to do next...
What you need to this is this:
1) total BTU demand of all gas appliances at full load
2) distance to furthest away appliance from meter/ fuel piping starting point into house
3) preset meter pressure i.e. 11"w.c, 7"w.c., 2 PSI etc.
Figure this farthest run first, then decide where branch runs will start from this long run( main line). figure each branch run (distance/demand), then the long run from first branch to end plus total demand remaining after first branch. Do this down the line for each branch. Post back here with this info and we'll size all the lines. Also do a little research to see what piping materials are allowed in your area( copper tubing, black iron, csst, etc.)
