I am going to replace all of the rotten wood on my doors and windows with the plastic composite moldings. I experimented a bit and found that nothing would stay aligned using a hammer and nail.

I am drawn to the phenumatic staple gun using the narrow 2 inch long staples.

I would appreciate opinions from experienced window repairmen.

Two side issues. Where do you get the compressed air cylinders to use instead of a compressor. Second, is there a patching plastic to fill holes in the plastic composte moldings.

Thanks

If you want a nail gun, but don't want a compressor (really, a little pancake compressor/nailgun combo can be had for not much more than a decent gun alone), you could look at one of the "cordless" models from Dewalt or Passlode.

Why a stapler as opposed to a trim nailer? Any trim nailer will allow you to align the piece nicely and nail it down securely. A stapler just makes that much more work to cover up the fastener hole (plus, depending on the type of plastic composite you're talking about it might not even drive flush, must less countersink, the fom-like stuff would probably be OK, but the hard plastic wouldn't).

I have seen white filler "crayons" for use in filling the nail holes on the composite trim also, generally sold right in the same area of the store. I've only ever used it inside, so I use adhesive and there are no holes to fill :)
