This probably isn't the correct place for this, but I didn't really see where else it fit. Anyway, my wife and I were discussing exterior siding options tonight for our new house and the issue of porch ceilings came up. We're still undecided between vinyl siding and cement fiber lap siding for the gables and cornice. If we end up going with vinyl then I'll just have the ceilings covered with that. But we're leaning toward the cement fiber lap siding. So if we go that direction, what does everyone normally do on the porch ceilings? Suppose I could still put vinyl, but I'm curious what everyone else uses. Could also go cheap with some 4 x 8 CDX or some of the plywood that tries to mimic tongue & grove. Or prehaps even spring for beadboard or something. Anyway, just looking for ideas as to what looks good and has a reasonable price. The porches are only 8' deep, so I'll be to make anything look decent without joints.
