We've been remodeling our home and reversed our basement steps 180 degrees.
The new top landing is where a closet used to be. We want to open up the stairs and living room by removing the red wall (pictures). The red wall is directly under a roof truss that has doubled up 2x4's where as the adjacent joists are single. the top of the steps are now located over the center of the house where the main supports run across the basement. That is the main reason why we 180'ed the steps (low head room). Can this be done or is the red wall supporting that truss?
