Please note that this post is made after going back through 7 pages of post under flooring and gleaming as much as I could from some very good post and replies.
I am currently laying red & white Oak ,T&G , 2 1/2 ", mill prepared. It has been stored in my shop ( non conditioned, Central Ar) for three years and is going into a 192 sq ft shop for my wife. This building is cooled via window shaker AC and heated by a wall mounted propane heater. The building is of 2X6 framing , OSB sided with Hardie plank exterior and a metal roof. Sits among oak and hickory trees on a mod steep hillside.
I am using a pneu flr nail gun , have 15# felt on the 3/4' Advantec floor over a vented crawlspace.
Since the building will be conditioned only when nesscary due to high/low temps , do I have a problem coming at me with cupping or other unforseen problems ?
The second part of this post concerns red and white oak plus a small amount of hickory that was cut off this place three years ago. It has been air drying (stickered) with only the top layer covered since it was cut. It has had cmt blocks on top of the stacks to provide weight to hold it down. The widths run to 12 inchs. It was rough cut via portable band saw to allow it to be planed back to 3/4"
I would appreciate comments on laying this random length and width. My plan is plane it, T&G the sides, use the pneu nailer and screw it down 18" O.C. Spaced evenly across the grain and pegs over the screw heads.
It will be in a conditioned space and have felt under it. The sub floor is 1 1/8 Advantec laid over a conditioned crawl space.
Finsh on all floors will be polyuratane. Min three coats.
Your comments and suggestions are both important and appreciated. Tom
