I'm in the process of renovating my basement. Currently a floor drain is being used for a shower (see picture, it says it all). I want to install a modern shower base and have to redo the old cast iron pipes. All of my plumbing experience has been with PVC. Would anyone be willing to provide some tips on how to approach my problem?

I was planning on:
- Cutting the existing pipe before the floor drain.
- Adding a Y section in the pipe.
- Relocating the floor drain further down the existing pipe run.
- Plumbing my shower drain into the split off the Y.

My big concern is how to vent the shower?

Thanks in advance! L.

Yeah I think your plains are good..you have to do what ever you thought..I think you have a better stratigy then why do you want to go for any other one..work on it ..its a good idea...

The OP is breaking up concrete, cutting iron pipe, removing a drain, installing two new drains, putting a shower/wall next to an exposed stack, asks about venting, and this is your answer?
