When installing quarter round on outside corners, I simply cut two 45-degree miters and match them up on the outside corner. Can I do the same for the inside corner? Could anyone tell me?

Someone told me that I need to miter just one pice and use a coping saw to trim off the back part of the molding. Then place the mitered piece into the piece that is flush to the wall. This sounds awfully more difficult than doing the outside corner.

Thanks!

Coping inside corners allows the wood to expand and contract without leaving a large gaps in the corners. For quarter round I don't think it's especially necessary - but it is the proven method for perfect (or almost) installation.
It is much more difficult - but once you get a system that works - it's not too bad. I particularly don't like using a coping saw. I've used 5" grinders and dremel tool for years with much better success.
It works best for me anyway.
