Sometimes also labeled as 'American Lantern'.

Posting this in a contracting forum is a new theory for me, let's see if it works . . . when I've worked with contractors ceiling fans invariably got removed, replaced, or simply destroyed along with a building . . . so perhaps if someone comes across one they could keep there eyes open. Fingers crossed :)

Also, I wasnt sure exactly which forum to put it in, so it's my 'hello' :)

This was a fan made in Tyler TX in the 1980s I am seeking in any condition. It's most easily recognised by the fact that the fan has a variable speed control and no pullchain.

A few other descriptive factors:
-GE Motor with flywheel
-Motor housing shaped like standard 80s Casablanca fan (Zephyr)
-Smaller switch housing with ornate switch cap
-Wooden speed control knob

It was offered in a variety of different finishes, and you could mix an match the sideband with the rest of the motor. The one I saw was brown with a brass sideband.

Pictures of some Tara fans similar to that which I am seeking are here:

Also, this site contains my photo homage to the lumberyard the Tara hung in (you can see the fan the replaced it with) and at the bottom of the page is my original sketch of the fan.

I am willing to go to great lengths to find this fan, as it has sentimental value.

Please email me mtneuman@mailbag.com with any info.

Thank you very much
Dan

Well I was hoping someone would be able to help with this .. but I have no idea. I'll keep my eyes open though.

That's all I can ask, is that people keep their eyes open. The fan is pretty distinctive, if you look close, what with the big wooden knob and great big canopy, perhaps someone has one in their own living room and hasnt looked close :)

The problem for me is, I live in an area they were never sold, so they dont turn up here in Salvage Yards and whatnot like they do in Texas, Florida, New Orleans. It was a fluke I happened to see one in the first place. So I'm counting on other people to keep their eyes open.

Thanks!

Dan
