How cna I provide lateral resistance to a platform framed wood building?

Many different ways. The first would be to layout the plywood sheathing to overlap the rim joist (4' up 4' down). Nail 6" o.c. into the stud framing and rim joist on the edges and 12" o.c. in the fields. Then sheet like you would anything else - staggering joists.
The second way I would suggest is using metal "L" strapping going from corner to corner across the whole wall. It's a pain because you pretty much have to do it off scaffolding or ladders. This is the type where you saw a kerf into the face of the studs etc to accept one leg of the "L" metal.
You could also "let" in a 1x4 across the rim joists and studs.
Personally I think the plywood is the easiest as you can get most of it on before standing the wall.
