G'Day Everyone,

As an ongoing project I am going to be adding a walk-in closet to a room.
After a lot of searching I have not found the answer.
So maybe you guys can help me out!
I want the closet to be a double hung, racks on both sides.
Entrance on the short end.
What is the min width I can get a way with, after its done I don't want to be saying
"I wish I had made it 3 inches bigger"

Thank you for your site and time.
Russ

I would say interior dimensions should be no less than 6'. That gives you a 3' walkway and 18" on each side for hanging clothes. Typically the shelves above hanging clothes will be 15" - add 3" to that for the clothes overhanging. That's what I've done in the past anyway.

Thank for the answer.
I have looked all over the net for some type of standard size.

I will have to rethink my game plan.
I am wanting to remodel a 10' x 12' bedroom (with no closet) to make it the master room.
There is a 9' x 10' room that is off that room and I want to make that the master bath with a closet.

Once again thank you for your time

Russ, why not just make one long closet, say 4'x9', then that would leave enough room for a 5-1/2'x9' master bath? The door to the closet could either be on the end so you enter from the bedroom, or the door could be somewhere on the long wall, entering from the new bath.
