Hey there,

First up, let me start by saying I have in no way any mechanical/construction skill sets even close to what should be had toward this idea/project of mine.

What i am wanting to do is build a mini-waterfall down at the creek which is behind my house about a half mile down. The creek is beautiful and has some spots that hook in with holes at the bank where something like this could be built (see my drawing below of what i'm trying to do)

my only problem is materials and mechanics/logicistics. Would i need a motor to suction enough water into the hose/pipe to make a constant waterfall? where would the motor go to be safe from vandalism or weather? materials? firehose or hard pipe? need it be weatersafe and built into the ground well too i would think...

or perhaps there is a cheaper way to suction water to create a waterfall without having to use electricity? a natural way??

any einsteins..i need your help!

No pumping needed, water moves downhill. Intake from the creek upstream of the water feature and bury your line at a lesser slope than the creek's gradient then return to the creek at the desired location. Make sure to maintain an even downhill slope as a low spot will silt in and clog your plumbing. A more boring application but I did something similar to be able to fill a drum on the back of our tractor from the creek.

King Louis' water gardens contain no pumps to run all the fountains and pools, its all driven by the "head" pressure of the water uphill.

sounds like a great idea...its going to involve a lot of work. This is something you'll definitely want to consult a professional on
