Hi, I am new to this site. I am currently working on the design of a backyard shed. Let me give you some details. This shed has two purposes. One is to house garden equipment and a lawn mower with a 48" deck. The other is to serve as a woodshop. The dimensions of the shed I am currently considering are 12'x14' for the woodshop and 7'x(10' or 12').

My question is this: should a building of this size sit on footers? If so, how thick should they be? What type of concrete should I look at? I'd like to do as much of the work as possible, but I won't undertake anything I don't think I'm capable of.

Thanks for you help/input.

EDIT: Only the woodshop is the section I am considering placing on footers - the room with the tractor would be attached to the main structure with a gravel floor.

I personally would probably put it on footers for the main portion and at a minimum doing pad footings for the other section so at least the bottom of the wall isn't so susceptible to water damage.
A standard mix design would be 3000psi. The footing for the main building should be at least 8" thick. I would think this whole project could be a diy project. You may want to think about doing a slab with thickened edges in lieu of the footings. Might give you the best of both.

Thanks for the input! I'm looking foward to getting started on this project as soon as possible.
