hi, im having problems reading some structural drawings (quite old i must add)

im not sure how to read the structural members on these drawings.. for example

16 BI 36

anyone familiar with this and can help me out?

Could be a piecemark that would be called out in a schedule located elsewhere in the plans. Could you attach an image of the plan where it's called out?

I believe that designation refers to a 16-inch deep I beam (as opposed to a wide-flange beam) which weighs 36 pounds per foot of length. Designations have changed over the years, but that's what I believe is called for.
