Is there a formula out there that can help me calculate how long it will take to paint the interior of a house based on square footage?
It depends on how fast you can paint. There is no formula that tells me how fast you can paint. I know how fast I can paint it.
Once you figure out how fast you can paint then it's pretty simple. Let's say you can paint a 10x10x10 room in 4 hours. So 500 sf of surface area divided by 4 hours equals 125 sf / hr. Assume that includes setup, prepping, etc. Change that into a production rate by dividing it into 1 - equals .008 hours per sf. Next time when you have a project with 1567 sf multiply it by .008 and you'll come up with 12.536 manhours and round up to 13.
That's the formula anyway.
