View Full Version : Which Adhesive to Use For Securing Lag Shields in Cement
I am going to bolt some connectors to a cement floor using lag shields and screws but I want to make it sturdy by glueing the shield in place. Can anyone recommend what type/brand epoxy or anchor cement to use?
Thanks.

If you use an adhesive to install the sheild and let it dry you are probably degrading the pull-out capacity of the anchor system. Sheilds are made to "grip" the media that they are designed to be installed in after the fastener is set. If you allow the adhesive to set (epoxy or any other type) you will probably just fracture the adhesive bond as well as prevent the sheild from "gripping" the concrete.
Unless the fastener manufacturer specifically lists it as an option, I would reconsider your plans to use adhesive. If you do go ahead and back up your sheilds with any adhesive, do so at the same time you set the fastener so that the bulk of the adhesive is forced from the hole.
Thanks; I didn't think of that angle.
