Hi All

I am trying to add an addition to my existing garage. It has a footing and a 2 foot cement wall. I was wondering if I can pour the footing and the wall all in one pour or should I do it in 2 steps (footing then wall).

My existing garage is 28ft wide by 28ft long and the addition is going to be 26ft wide by 16ft long.
I forgot to add that I am in Canada...Snow...
Thanks for your response, and great site.:D:p:lol::D

I was talking to someone here and they can do this no problem. Another question, what would be the concenquences of adding a floating floor to and existing footing, wall and floor. Would this protentially cause problems.
Thanks again

What do you propose to do about frost heaving? If does nor sound like a 2' depth will cut it for almost all of Canada.

You could possibly get away with that kind of construction if it was detached, but attached is a different story. If your attached garage decides to move, you can have big problems with your home..

There are ways to use shallow insulated footings/walls, but they involve insulation on the outside of the concrete AND forizontal insulation going out from the bottoms to prevent the frost from getting under the concrete.
