I have recently began constructing a cabin 24 x 24 in the bush, the outside joist are all 4 x 8 beams with 2 x 6 support joists running 12 feet on either side to the main doubled up 4 x 8. I have cement supports with 4 x 4 posts ever 6 feet in all directions, before I lay the floor is there anything else I should do??
Thanks

A 2x6 running a 12' span would have a lot of bounce to the floor. What is your joist spacing? I would like to see that small of joist placed on 12" centers. But even at that, it will still have 3/4" deflection.
Better yet would be 2x8 joists on 12" centers, which would give you 3/8" deflection.
Is there any way you can add another 4x8 beam in the center of the 12' spans? Maybe you already have that and I just mis-read what you were saying.

Doyle you mise well come up my friend, and come fishing or moose hunting this fall! lol! Ok here is the entire setup from how I started, I built a 24 x 24 box with 4x8's, squared and then nailed 2-4x8's together and then another 2 staggared them and supported them with first a patio slab then a cement collar with a 4x4. Then I put in all my joists (all 2x6x12) and braced them all, while I put the same supports underneath all 4 coners, 3 down the center, 3 down the left side, and 3 down the right side. So I had support 6' in every direction and it seems to be very sturdy, understanding that it will shift some and I will have to shim here and there, but I was down yesterday and it is all square.
