Hello. I am planning a 20' x 40' addition with an 8' x 12' connecting breezeway. My current basement is a daylight basement with three double-hung windows (33" x 34") framed into 2" x 6" walls on the end of the foundation where the addition will connect. ( The rest of the foundation is concrete. The land starts on a slope and ends level. The area the addition will be on is level with the end of the house framed in wood.) Where the foundation walls are 2 x 6's, the vinyl siding runs down to the concrete sill, which sits a few inches above the ground.
I would like to pour a foundation for the addition 8' high with a minimal amount of wood framing. I'm wondering if there is a good way to attach the sheathing to the concrete so that my siding can run around the addition just above ground level, even though the concrete will run three feet above the ground.
There will be windows matching the existing basement on both gable ends of the addition.
Thanks in advance for any help.
