Hi--- stumbled upon this site by accident and sure am glad I found you guys.
I have a 16' x16' deck which I want to put a roof over. Sorta like a screened in porch without the screens. Its on the back side of a ranch house with a roof pitch of 7-12.
I built the deck with this in mind. The outer edge of the deck has five 8' 4x4's every four feet integrated into the hand rails, to hold the weight of the trusses. These are directly over a double 2x12 carrying beam. (no cantilever)
My questions are:
Are trusses the way to go? I chose this to eliminate any other verticle supports except the 4x4s out back and then lay the trusses on the existing roof. Or am I all wet?
What happens to the existing rain gutters? Just let them run under the shed roof as they are now?
