I have a problem. Re-roofing a Gambrel(barn) roof. How do you install flashing at the gambrel (first angle up)?

I use a piece of gutter apron there. A piece of regular D edge will often work also. Shingle up the steep section. Trim with the pitch break, install the flashing and then start again treating it like you're starting another roof.

Often there is a piece of wood trim, 3 or 4 inches high, at the break point, which allows flashing behind it over the lower slope, and a drip edge above it, and it looks good on the roof, too.

We will typically custom bend this. The top side would be about 4" under the shingles. The face would be about 3" The bottom would be hemmed over and then slightly folded back against the shingles a few degrees for compression. It's a simple 3 bends.
