I would deeply appreciate if someone could shed light on the following:

1. We have a high rise building project involving a 21 storey service apartment. We plan to implement a conventional lightning protection system but we are facing a problem regarding the building aesthetic aspects. Normally downconductors are recommended to be installed outside of the building running along the walls. However, this will not give the building a good appearance. We plan to embed the downconductors in concete (in the building's columns and foundations). The downconductors will be inside PVC conduit and will be bonded to the building's rebar every floor. The conductor is 120 sqmm in 27mm PVC conduit. What could be the implications of this type of installation?

2. Our Building is not wide but long and I do feel that the conventional system would not be enough. We plan to have a hybrid system, combining the conventional and streamer type air terminals . What could be the implication of this type of system.

Thanks for your support.

I did a 12 story high rise a few years ago .. but for the life of me I can't remember how we handled the lightning protection system. I'll see if I can pull up some old drawings off disk and see what we did.

:) I'm about 1/2 way through all the as-built discs. Of which there are around 12 of them.
