I have a friend with a roof that is leaking and we were talking about reflashing and ice guarding the area after this winter caused extensive ice damning. The area has one roof butting into a wall and that seam is causing problems. We want to run ice guard up under the siding and down onto the roof. There is flashing there also. When we rip this all out, should we apply the ice guard diretly to the seam, or should we flash it and then ice guard over it. I know this sounds weird, but there is some conflicting information out their about this detail.
Thanks

Typically at a roof to wall itnersection we run the ice shield about 4-8" up the wall. We would wrap the tyvek over the ice shield, then install the flashing as we normally would. I assume we are talking about baby tin flashing.

Thanks, we can live with that solution :D
