Drafting Standards

I have the problem of several people drawing flooring installation diagrams in different ways, which leads to confusion and problems down the road when I need to size carpet or laminates.

Are there any drafting standards you have used that can improve diagram quality and consistency?

In what respect are these details? Is it edge of wall, transitions, material to material?
My personal feeling on it is that there are too many drafting standards. Which I think is what you're saying. Each office / architect has their own style and thoughts on how something should be built.
Although if everyone did it the same way we'd have a lot of boring buildings.
