main beam

I am working on framing my first floor and I had a question about the main beam. We are using LVL's as our main beam (11 7/8). I need to adjust the height of the beam slightly to make it level with the top of the sill plate. Can I drop a piece of pressure treated lumber into the beam pocket as a shim? There are also intermediate posts for support.

It's not recommended due to how easily smaller pieces of wood will smash. I would try for steel shims if it's not too much. If it's something like 3/4" I would use marine grade plywood.
