Hi all! I have been enjoying reading the discussions on this site for the past few weeks. I have some time between projects and actually find myself learning from others. I think I could lend some of my own experience here to benefit others in need of guidance on certain subjects that I have come across.

Just a bit about me - Licensed Engineering & Building Contractor in California since 1978 with a variety of sub-classifications including Asbestos, Hazardous, Demolition, Earthwork, etc. Also active license in Arizona in B-1 General Commercial and I have an in-active Nevada license. From Superintendent to Sr. Project Manager/Construction Manager to business owner and just about everything in between.

In the past 30 + years have been most active in California and Nevada on large scale multi-family, hotels, single family and retail/commercial office buildings.

About 15 years ago got heavily involved in the land acquisition, entitlement and development process (mainly in the Northern and Southern California area), both in construction and development.

Thanks!

Hi "ritajones",

As far as the weather goes:-D, I do not think you can beat Southern Cal especially if you are near the coast. Aside from the weather though if you are asking about the job/economic climate, it is a tough go. The residential market here is as bad if not worse in some ways as the rest of the country:twisted:.

Which state are you located in?

Don

I am in North Carolina, and don't get me wrong it's pretty nice here and the climate is well above average compared to the rest of the country, but it's always been my dream to live in Southern California. Perhaps I should wait a few years to see if the economy picks up and the residential market improves. Thanks for your help.
