What am I doing wrong?? (other than not hiring a pro, ha ha)
My 5 year old poured concrete foundation seems un-pargable, all attempts by me end up in failure. I have done all of the following, not necessarily all at the same time:
-thoroughly dampening the concrete, wire-brushing it first, washing with muriatic acid then rinsing, using concrete glue, no glue, premixed parge cement, homemade mix (masonry cement-portland cement-sand), a wetter mix, a drier mix... always done on cool, cloudy days and kept moist.
It always cracks and bubbles away from the wall. I have spent weeks trying to do this to no avail and am going mental. I drive by new homes and they are parged in a day (by elves at night?) and look great. Should I give up and call a pro? What's the price/sq. ft.? Thanks for any help. RSole.
