best way to apply 1/2" brick veneer (interior wall)

need to apply 1/2" brick veneer to an interior kitchen wall (behind a heavy duty oven)--- the company that supplies the brick suggests mastic to drywall but am wondering whether i should use dens shield, with or without wire mesh, and a mortar bed instead??? any advice would be appreciated! jeff

I would probably use 1/4" durock and a mortar bed. Not because that's the way it's supposed to be or that I've used it in the past... just because I don't know any better :)
