gable and subfacia corner?

What is the standard for this corner ,run the gable 2x8 end long and butt the facia 2x8? In other words nail thru the gable 2x8 into the facia.

Thinking about it I don't guess it really matters but I treat the fly, barge, verge, umm gable subfascia like a regular rafter and bump it into the eave subfascia. I then run the finish eave fascia and run the gable finish fascia by that. I quit trying to miter that joint as it doesn't seem to hold up over time.
